Need/Requirement
Our customer working mainly for international petrochemical companies wanted to provide multiple ballistic protected and secure areas for local staff in event of emergency. Their plan was to use ocean going containers and re-enforce and line these with appropriately sized armour plate as a moveable safe room. The low-cost nature of this provision meant on large sites it was also cost effective to provision multiple facilities close to active work sites.
Specialist Skills
Sourcing the correct grade of material for the required ballistic protection was critical The containers were to be lined on site so accurate profiling capability was an important consideration for ease of assembly ,along with experience in the international logistics of this product.

The Agreed Solution Scope
The material would be profiled to exact size at Brown McFarlane’s first class profiling facility in Stoke on Trent UK. Delivery would be to the customer’s local fabrication facility, in accordance with the customer’s schedule, where the parts would be an integral stage of the customer’s production/build process.
We quickly established a gas profiling solution that would give the appropriate tolerances and the appropriate Quality Control process that would ensure this was delivered without problems.
Additional Customer Requirements
Special attention was also paid to delivery schedules as the solution needed to fit our client’s production assembly process and speedy supply of the safe rooms could be a life or death situation.
The Steel Solution
Brown McFarlane secured speedy supply of the correct ballistic tested Armour plate from 1st tier steel plate producers at optimal prices..The material was delivered to the UK for processing within days. The profiling process began upon receipt and passed rapidly through production and quality control ready to be delivered to the customers own schedule as agreed.
The Delivery
Due to Brown McFarlane’s own, extensive know how, coupled with that of our Western European supply partners ; we were able to provide a materials solution to the customer that completely met with the required specification. On top of this, we were able to provide accurate, cut to size parts, which were delivered to the customers exacting requirement saving the customer time, space and money.
